NEW DELHI: Confusion prevailed on the IIM-A campus on Thursday after the Supreme Court verdict upholding the 27% quota for OBCs in central educational institutes. "We expect to receive a copy of the judgment only on Friday. There has been no communication from the HRD ministry," said Samir Barua, director of IIM-A.
In case the IIMs fall in the quota regime, IIM-A has a plan to implement the 27% quota in a phased manner.
In the first year, IIM-A plans to reserve 6% seats for OBCs and an overall increase of 12% in seats. Implementing the 27% at one go would mean reserving 54% of the seats. Currently, there are 250 seats in IIM-A.
